The last decade has seen the consumer electronics at their cheapest yet. This means creative tools are at their cheapest yet. We can now create and share with ease. So what does this mean for media art and the people who seek to create.

Firstly, the ubiquity of technology, computers and other means to create digital media has drastically changed what we cann media art. Media art is no longer simply using a computer to create art, the bar has been raised. Using photoshop to create art is simply art, no longer something that is distinct from other mediums. I think the rise of affordable technology has allowed for a new means of creating traditional forms of art, still leaving room for more progressive forms of expression.

I do think there is room for the use of analog media such as film, print and vinyl. Digital means of creation and consumption are almost entirely beneficial. Anything that allows people to easily express their worldview and easily bare witness to the worldview of others is a positive. I think the world of creative expression exists to highlight the varied nature of human existence and that affordable creative tools only expand upon this ideal.
